Instant Garden Identification & Disease Diagnosis

Our plant scanner uses a modern computer-vision model trained on tens of thousands of labeled plant, weed, and turf-disease images. When you upload a photo, the model breaks the image down into hundreds of visual features — leaf shape, vein pattern, edge serration, flower symmetry, stem structure, and color gradients — and compares them against its reference library to return the most probable species along with a confidence score.

The single biggest driver of accuracy is photo quality. Fill the frame with a single leaf or flower cluster, shoot in natural daylight (avoid harsh midday shadows), and hold the camera steady 6–12 inches from the subject. Photos of the entire plant from a distance are much harder for the model to score because too many overlapping species share a similar silhouette. If you're identifying a weed in the lawn, kneel down and get a close-up of a single seedling rather than a wide shot of the patch.

Beyond ID, the scanner cross-references the result against a database of toxic and invasive species. Plants like poison ivy, poison oak, giant hogweed, oleander, and foxglove trigger an immediate red safety banner so you know not to handle them bare-handed. Common broadleaf lawn weeds — dandelions, clover, ground ivy, crabgrass, nutsedge — come back with the recommended organic and selective-herbicide treatment window for your region.

For turf and foliage diseases, focus the shot on the transition zone between healthy and damaged tissue. Discoloration patterns, powdery coatings, ring shapes, and leaf spot geometry are the visual cues the model uses to distinguish fungal issues (dollar spot, brown patch, rust) from nutrient deficiencies or drought stress. When confidence is low, the scanner tells you explicitly rather than guessing — retake with a cleaner shot for a stronger result.
